Particles come after a word and label its job. Learn the job first, then swap in words from your real life.

は sets the topic. Think “as for...” It tells the listener what the rest of the sentence is about.

が marks the subject—often the specific person or thing being identified, noticed, liked, understood, or said to exist.

を marks the direct object—the thing you eat, watch, learn, play, buy, or otherwise act on.

も is pronounced mo. Put it right after the noun or phrase you want to mark as “also.”

で marks the place where an action happens. It also marks the tool, language, or transportation used to do something.

と is pronounced to. It means “and” between nouns, and can also mean “with” when you do something together with someone.
